Frequently Asked Questions - FAQ

What areas does Ranger Energy Services cover?
We're based in Grande Prairie and serve the surrounding Peace Region, Northern Alberta, and Northeast B.C. — including Beaverlodge, Fox Creek, Valleyview, Grande Cache, Dawson Creek, and Fort St. John. For long-distance hauling, we run throughout Western Canada and into the Northern States.

What services do you offer?
Ranger provides hotshot and light hauling, Defender 6x6 side-by-side rentals, skid steer services and lease maintenance, and H2S scrubber rentals with onsite service. One local outfit for hauling, rentals, and equipment support.

Do you offer after-hours or emergency hotshot?
Yes. When your job can't wait, we answer the phone and get rolling — including after-hours and weekends. Call 780-831-8000 and we'll get your load moving.

Do your skid steer rentals come with an operator?
Yes — our skid steers are supplied with certified, competent operators as needed. You don't need to provide your own. We can also discuss equipment-only arrangements depending on your needs.

Can I rent a Defender side-by-side for personal or recreational use?
No. Our Defender 6x6 units are rented strictly for industrial and oilfield use. They're rigged for site work — speed-limited, GPS-tracked, and outfitted for safety and compliance.

What comes with a Defender 6x6 rental?
Every unit is fully outfitted and job-ready: an 800-litre permanently mounted slip tank, GPS tracking, six HD work lights, a lighted buggy whip, and a programmed road radio with AB/BC channels. Speed-limited to 45 km/hr for site safety.

Do you deliver equipment to site?
Yes. We deliver our Defenders, skid steers, and scrubbers right to your location through Ranger's own hotshot fleet, anywhere in the Peace Region.

How does rental pricing work?
Our equipment is available on daily, weekly, and monthly rates. Pricing depends on the unit and the length of your job, so give us a call or email and we'll put together a quote that fits your scope.

What does an H2S scrubber do, and when do I need one?
Our scrubbers safely remove hydrogen sulfide (H₂S) from low-pressure vent gas streams — common during workovers, fluid transfers, and at wellsites and storage tanks. If your operation produces sour gas, a scrubber protects your crew, your equipment, and nearby communities.

Do you service the H2S scrubber during the job?
Yes. We supply labour as needed for onsite workover support — testing, monitoring, and changing fluids through the duration of your job. Our units handle both H₂S and carbon scrubbing.

What size loads can your hotshot fleet handle?
We run a fleet of F550s with a full range of trailers, so we can move anything from light freight up to larger oilfield loads. Tell us the load and the destination and we'll match the right truck to it.

Is Ranger locally and Indigenous-owned?
Yes. Ranger Energy Services is an Indigenous-owned and operated business based in Grande Prairie, owned and operated by Lance O'Connell — locally rooted and invested in the region we serve.
